Make Your Sink Shine

The Maids of Greater Lehigh Valley • Jun 13, 2013

How’s your kitchen sink looking? Is it clean and shiny? Kitchen sinks are one of the most notorious places in the house for germs, and if that weren’t enough, an empty, clean sink goes a long way in making the whole kitchen look cleaner.

Good maid services clean your kitchen, but if you’re ready to go a step further and make your sink look brand new again, try this:

  • Empty the sink completely. Of course, don’t just shift dirty dishes around—wash them or load the dishwasher!

  • Spray the entire sink with vinegar. Don’t be shy, the idea is to get every part of the sink surface wet.

  • Sprinkle baking soda on the entire sink. The baking soda sticks to the vinegar, making a cleaning paste.

  • Let sit for 10 minutes. The chemicals need time to do their work!

  • Rinse out the sink with boiling water. Flush the loosened dirt, baking soda, and vinegar down the sink.

  • Using a little more vinegar and a clean sponge, scrub. Get into the corners and along the edges to get the grime out.

  • Dry with a paper towel. Drying not only removes the moisture, it will also take out anything still clinging to the sink.

  • Buff with a little bit of olive oil on a paper towel. The olive oil will act as a repellent and make your sink shiny.

Kitchens are one of the easiest to dirty and yet most important rooms to clean in the house—anything to make it easier and better is welcome!

If you have carpet in your home, you and your family live with it every day: you walk on it, sit on it, lay down on it, eat over it, and spill stuff on it. Your carpet goes through a lot, and for its best interest (and yours!) cleaning needs priority. Carpets tend to trap germs extremely well. When you think of all the things you do on your carpet, that makes sense. From dust and skin cells to crumbs and spills, it sees a lot of action.
